Which food contains Water, Fibre and Minerals?

You know that being hydrated is the most important to stay fit and young. You might have been taught from your childhood that drink more water, eat more fruits, and drink water in morning and before going to bed. But for many people including me, drinking plain water is a tough task which has no taste and looks meaningless gulping down gallons of plain water.
Well, that was childhood, it looked like water was forcing itself upon us. But the Pleasant fact is that plenty of healthy, tasty fruits and vegetables are full of water. We can consume more water by taking the correct amount of fruits and vegetables in our diet, and this can help us in staying hydrated in a tasty way.

Let’s understand why we need at least 2.5 litres of water every day.

The human body can survive without food for 30 days, but without water, it can't sustain for even seven days. A research published in European Union Food International Council says that a healthy human being loses 2.5 L of water per day. The human body loses 1.5 L as urine 700 ML thru breath, 100ML through faeces, and 200 ML in normal perspiration. So this means just to maintain basic bodily functions, drinking a minimum 2.5 L of water is necessary.
Our body is quite intelligent and it can absorb water from any food source like solid or semi-solid. Many fruits that we eat contain water in sufficient quantity for example banana contains 74% water, cherries and grapes contain 81% water, plums and blueberries contain 85% water, watermelon and strawberries contain 92% water, grapes, cantaloupe and peaches contain 90% water. Vegetables like red cabbage, radish, tomato, celery, potato and cucumber contain almost 70% water.
These fruits and vegetables are also filled with vitamins, minerals and fibre. You can enjoy these in salads or raw, you can also may delicious drinks with these watery vegetables. For example, you can make cucumber lemonade. Take out the juice off an entire cucumber, juice of half lemon, add 1 teaspoon of honey, and serve this chilled. Enjoy!

Chaach, also known as Indian buttermilk is deliciously made with yoghurt and water. You can replace water with cucumber juice or even with watermelon juice to get a cooling therapeutic effect. Similarly, you can replace water in many traditional drinks and switch to watery fruits and vegetables and get the benefits of taste, health and hydration.
You know that kids love ice lollies so you can try juicing watermelon, cucumber, oranges, add some honey and lemon juice as per your liking and freeze it in ice candy moulds. This will make delicious ice lollies for your kids. While preserving the freshness and nutritive value of the juice, it will also have a cooling effect on your kids.
So, now you know that being hydrated is not so hard, and is not all about drinking plain water. Staying hydrated with the help of fresh juicy fruits and vegetables is very interesting and easy.
